What is CB?
Operated by the IEC System of Conformity Assessment Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components (IECEE), the IECEE Certification Body scheme is an international system for mutual acceptance of test reports and certificates dealing with the safety of electrical and electronic components, equipment, and products.
It is a multilateral agreement among participating countries and certification organizations, which aims to facilitate trade by promoting harmonization of national standards with International Standards and cooperation among accepted national certification bodies (NCBs) worldwide. Achieving this brings product manufacturers a step closer to the ideal concept of "one product, one test, one mark, where applicable".

What is the difference between the CE marking and the CB certificate?
CE Marking and CB certificates are completely different issues. CE include safety, EMC, RED, ROHS, ErP ect, mandatory for Europe market. CB is major for safety (some CB will have EMC standard as well) but voluntary.
How long is a CB scheme certification valid?
CB Test Certificates do not have expiry date. But due to different countries harmonic standards update, need case by case check with members existing standards version. So the latest standards version CB certification and test reports are more generally accredited NCBS (National certification bodies) . Normally they will object CB certificates that have been issued longer than three years, special for Saudi Arabia market.
How to apply for CB ?
When you plan to apply for CB, you need consider your product will access which market? Then CB report should consider the countries deviation before your final certification translate.
Can one CB report both include US & Canada markets as well as Europe market?
Although they are all CB members, but Europe market reference IEC standard, while US and Canada market will choose UL or CSA standard, which are different standard scheme. So normally will separate two CB reports & certifications .
What is the difference between CB report and IEC report?
They both follow IEC standard, but report template different. IEC report test contents much less than CB report. And IEC report can be issued by any ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories, CB only can be issued under accredited NCB.
CB is not final target countries certification, normally need transfer to member countries certificates, include but no limit to : SAA for Australia, CE-LVD for Europe, CCC for China ect.
IEC report normally for customs clearance, such as Morocco, Kuwait, Nigeria, Colombia and other countries and regions require IEC reports to apply for Compliance Of Certificates(COC) for customs clearance.
